  Historic monument, School no. 5 from Alexandria, is the oldest school from Alexandria and one of the oldest functioning buildings, even after 120 years from its foundation. At present it is a secondary school with 590 students with ages between 6 and 14. The institution has a number of 21 classes, 12 primary teachers, 25 secondary teachers, 1 principal and 1 vice principal. The curriculum for the primary cycle introduces the partial teaching of STEM sciences, teachers use during class time digital content of the lessons, they use internet resources, learning platforms, Golab, Kahoot, Minecraft education, Scientix, so that technology is introduced in all studied subjects.

  In secondary school cycle, informatics is a learning subject, one hour a week starting from fifth class. The classes take place in the school's informatics lab, but also many digital resources are used in other subjects.

  During the years, there have been activities in which teachers have followed the student's approach to the creative use of the Internet for learning purposes. (Ex: Hour of Code, Europe code Week, proiecte Etwinning). The school has taken the first steps in the field of robotics through several activities developed in partnership with other non-governmental organizations in the field. The reason for our participation in the Erasmus + project is to develop professionally, to get acquainted with modern approaches so as to attract students to STEM careers.

  8o Gymnasio Volou is a public junior high school located in Volos city. Our school was founded in 31st of August 1983 together with another 46 junior high schools all over Greece. 
  Our school is situated at the east side of the city in a rather poor region with several students coming from worker families. Over 200 students study to our school who are aged between 12 to 16. It employs over 25 teachers of different professions. 

  Except the classic studies for a junior high school, students are taught English and French or German language depending on their choice. We also implement curriculums about culture (classical theatre, Greek ancient theatre and opera), environmental activities, professional development and also educational robotics and STEM.

  Our school has several disadvantaged students, due to their socio-economic background, some students from immigrant families, some single parent and some orphan students as well.  One of our main goals is to give a chance to our students and teachers to gather experience and to learn more about other countries, cultures, tradition, education systems etc, and develop skills in communication, languages, organization and finally become more tolerant and open to other cultures. 

  Volos is a post industrial city with a population o 144.449 people. It is situated in prefecture of Magnesia, between Pagasitikos bay and the Pelion Mountain.  It is the capital of Magnesia and one of the largest cities of Greece. Except its industrial character the region is mainly agricultural and touristic.
